Farm Technician – Qualifications
For the Farm Technician position, previous fish farming experience is a definite asset but is not required. Candidates must be enthusiastic, be willing to learn, have an eye for detail, and love the outdoor environment.
Workers are outside all day, on their feet for the full eight hours. The employee must be willing to work in all types of weather, be physically fit, and able to lift 25 kg. You are required to supply your own steel-toe rubber boots and rain gear. A life jacket and hard hat are supplied by Creative Salmon and must be returned to the company upon termination of employment. Employees are required to work statutory holidays and weekends; your two days off, depending on your shift would be either Friday/Saturday or Sunday/Monday.
Because farming requires a team effort, dependable attendance is a fundamental part of employment.
After completing a 90-day probationary period, full-time employees will receive a full range of benefits. After two years of employment, staff can join our RRSP matching program.
To reduce use of fossil fuels and impact on the environment, Creative Salmon has two crew vans: one for the Tofino area and one for the Ucluelet area. We also contract a crew boat to transport employees from the Creative Salmon dock to the farm site on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Employees are encouraged to use these no-fee modes of transportation. Employees are required to find their own accommodations.
